What People's Say About Place

Definitely a Melbourne institution but is also the go-to Malaysian restaurant for Malaysian expats since 2021. I actually visited their daughter store @kopilicious.au first and I was amazed by the quality and resemblance to my time in KL/Penang. I heard that Lim Kopi is the birth of this restaurant’s flavours and that they have the best CHEE CHEONG FUN in Melbourne. sweet sauce signature chee cheong fun 4.75/5 Bak Kut Teh 3.5/5 (was yum but not there with Malaysia’s Michelin taste) duck egg char kway teow 3.8/5 hainan chicken 3.25/5 roti canai 3/5 teh tarik (hot) 4.25/5 Kopi (iced) 3.5/5 I have to agree with the Melbournians and Malaysians - best undefeated CHEE CHEONG FUN In Melbourne, consistent with their sister store. Loved their duck char kway teow which was so smokey. Hainanese chicken was so juicy, sweet and savoury, but I felt like it needed more depth. Bak kut teh soothed my soul and stomach. Perfect rich bowl of umami. Always so many options and large portions, you’ll never be disappointed. Amazing wok hei that is constantly burning with fire and passion. Heard their pork noodle soup and curry mee is a must try here too.

This place is a great Malaysian restaurant to visit! The restaurant is quite unassuming from the outside, but the staff were really sweet, and the food was delicious. I ordered the nasi lemak with beef rendang which was bursting with flavour. My only wish was for there to be more cucumber and rendang. My partner ordered the CKT and that was also fantastic. We also got the teh tarik which was refreshing and sweet.

A good place to go for casual & affordable Malaysian cuisine. Service is quick, food is tasty. Friendly staff, clean & tidy restaurant.

The food was unexpectedly impressive. The curry chicken with roti chanai was delicious. The fried dry noodles came in an unexpected "nest" which was rather dramatic when served. The fish balls soup was full of flavour. The curry laksa was nice but I think I personally prefer it with more coconut milk. All of us enjoyed what we ordered.

We had petai or bitter bean, stir fried with minced pork, pork noodles and meat popiah or spring roll. Tasted like it did in Malaysia. And they had the chili sides, they had four different options! Staff, who were Msian were very friendly. After appointment went back to pack our dinner and another order of meat spring roll. Will definitely be back again.

Recently tried this and it was great. We had Dry Curry Chicken Rice Vermicelli Mix Noodle (a mouthful to say, but even better to eat), Special Sauce Chee Cheong Fun, crazy good pork ribs, Nasi Lemak with tender beef rendang, plus a special kopi and teh tarik to seal the deal. Overall experience was good. There wasn’t a queue when we went there for a dinner on a Friday evening. The seats are comfy and the staffs are very accommodating. My fave here is their dry curry chicken rice vermicelli mix noodles, the flavours are spot on with the right noodle texture.
